Lego Hidden Side brings spectacular new sets and a decent multiplayer
Lego Hidden Side is still one of the best mixtures of AR gameplay and physical toys on today's market. Now a new set of Spookacular sets has arrived for enthusiastic collectors and Lego enthusiasts.
Highlights include Haunted Fairground and Lighthouse of Darkness - the two biggest sets - but the other four are almost as well as well. These include El Fuegos stunt airplane, Welcome to the Hidden Side, Jacks Beach Buggy and Newbury Subway.
The general idea is that you create the sets, download a free app on your iOS or Android device and then examine the set and search for hidden secrets and ghosts. As I said, it is a pretty inventive application of technology that focuses on children, but still offers a certain novelty for everyone who loves Lego.
All 2020 sets are compatible with the new multiplayer game mode of Hidden Side, with which you and your friends can play together online or in the same room. There are currently two different modes: Playing as hunters and play as a spirit. The former requires you to compete against your friends and catch as many spirits as possible, while the latter brings together with two other online ghost players to pursue the sets and hide them from ghost hunters controlled by players.
In order to ensure the safety younger players online, a number of security measures have been made. For example, you can only communicate with each other via Lego Emojis, stickers and certain phrases. Basically, there is no voice chat, which is probably no problem in view of the simplicity of AR gameplay.
The app itself is supposed to grow over time and offer new spirits and game challenges to keep the experience fresh.
Further information can be found on the official website of LEGO HIDDEN SIDE. The app can now be downloaded from both Appstore and Google Play.
