DICE Legacy: That's what it looks like construction

Genre: Construction Strategy Developer: Destinybit Publisher: Ravenscourt Platform: Nintendo Switch, PC Release: 09 . September 2021

In Dice Legacy we expect classic real-time construction strategy at first glance. Remove dominion, provide the population and develop ourselves. However, our workers * inside and citizens look a little different than we are well used to play. They are six-sided and rolled.

What makes Dice Legacy so special?

At the beginning of the game we land directly on the shore of a strange ring-shaped world. Equipped with some resources, we have to build new buildings in the best construction strategy-manner and get materials, unlock new buildings through exploration, expanding our area, and replace us against raids of an opposing power.

The special feature of Dice Legacy is already in the name: Our workers are no people, but dice. However, they have no numbers on the pages, but activity symbols. Which side ends up the above is what task you can just meet: reduce resources or process, build buildings, explore new areas or defend us against attacking enemies.

But we can not use our cubes just like objects, but must actually take care of them. So every dice has a durability that indicates how often he can be rolled or used before he breaks. To restore your durability, you need food in the canteen. If you are injured in the fight, we have to heal you in the pharmacy and when it gets too cold in winter, you can freeze, so we need to thaw her again with beer.

We can even train our cubes. By sending them to school, from the peasant cubes we start with the game, then cube cubes. Who would have thought that dice need so much education.

For whom is Dice Legacy interesting?

Dice Legacy is clearly aimed at fans of construction strategy games. Who likes the Anno series and Co., will come here at his expense. The dice mechanics also provides an interesting innovation for the well-known game principle that gives us additional control over the game.

But we also have to bring a bit of love for random systems, because though we can manage the dice, we are lucky about how they fall. If we just need a particular cube, you can ever lead to hectic nurse. So if you like micro and macro management in your games, could be found here.

If you have become curious, you can watch the gameplay here again:

By the way, Dice Legacy is a pure singleplayer experience, so we can not compete against our friends.

Goodbye Forza Motorsport 7...

Dice Legacy offers with its dice system an unusual new idea to the well-known construction strategy genre. The random mechanism does not find in secret instead but can be determined by us, but also brings another element that we have to manage.

This gives us the game on the one hand more control over the events, on the other hand, the involvement of the cube mechanics could have been even more interesting. Ultimately, the cubes are just all normal workers * inside, which can run different jobs, depending on the random principle. As a cube fan, I think: here would certainly have been more feasible with the idea.

When playing, Dice Legacy ran smoothly with us on the switch, as with many construction simulations, however, it was clearly noticeable here that the controller is better suited for mouse and keyboard.
